Welcome to the Milton McPike Fieldhouse Renovation project, part of the East High Athletes fund.
The renovation of the existing structure of the Milton McPike Fieldhouse at Madison East High School will allow interscholastic competition in basketball (Boys and Girls), volleyball (Boys and Girls), and wrestling, as well as provide a significant expansion and improvement of Physical Education meeting space.
Work will allow adequate ingress/egress points; installation of a competition floor; and bleacher seating for up to 2,500 guests. The project will also feature an addition to serve as the main event entrance, and will include space for restrooms, concessions, ticket sales, offices, a 2500 square foot multipurpose/weight room area, and storage.
Why the Renovation?
Currently, the Milton McPike Fieldhouse does not have the capacity necessary to serve as anything but a practice facility for interscholastic sports and meeting space for Physical Education classes. This leaves the 1,200 seat Spectator Gym as the only venue available to hold school or community assemblies, provide a community gathering space, or host athletic competitions. In fact, as currently configured, East High School does not have a single space available to accommodate all of the more than 1,600 enrolled students at one time.
Completion of this project will allow East to host WIAA playoff games and tournaments, and also to host community youth in a variety of activities at capacities on par with neighboring communities. A renovated fieldhouse space will provide assembly space for the entirety of the student body, as well as numerous opportunities for community use.
