Additional Advocacy Resources

Advocacy is a key component of the Foundation’s mission to support Madison’s public schools. Read about the critical k-12 public education issues we’re following using the link below. Join us in advocating for Madison’s public schools today!

On November 3, 2020 our community overwhelmingly supported an operating and facilities referendum – delivering $350 million in resources to our public schools. Through our advocacy arm, Schools Make Madison Advocacy, Inc., the Foundation powered the Vote Yes 2 Invest campaign that encouraged voters to vote YES on both referenda questions.

A HUGE thanks to the extraordinary leadership of our campaign co-chairs, steering committee members, volunteers, and a coalition of supporters from around the community. We are also grateful to the organizations and community leaders who endorsed the Vote Yes 2 Invest campaign.

For nearly 20 years, the Foundation has been a steady and ready partner to help supporters like you give your time, talent, and treasure to our public schools. Official campaign statement from our co-chairs below.

Statement from Campaign Co-Chairs

“We’re incredibly grateful to the people of Madison for voting YES to invest in our public schools, students, and staff. Because of you, more sustainable and equitable schools are in sight. The work does not end here. We encourage everyone who cares about the future of our community to get involved with our local schools through the Foundation for Madison’s Public Schools and, alongside our new Superintendent Dr. Carlton Jenkins, help us continue to shape a Madison that uplifts all its residents.”
